Megan Fairchild one of today’s leading Principal dancers with New York City Ballet, has temporarily traded the stage at the David Koch Theater for Broadway!

After a suggestion from her brother Robbie Fairchild, Megan is took a chance and auditioned for the hottest new Broadway musical, “On The Town” and was cast as Ivy Smith, one of the leads almost as soon as she walked in the room.  And what is most amazing about the audition is the fact that Megan was not a trained actor or singer and had rarely been on an audition.

As you will hear in the interview, Megan decided on a whim to step out of her comfort zone and just “go for it”.  She spent the weekend honing her acting and singing skills and with knocking knees impressed the auditioners enough to offer her a contract on the spot.  Since that day, Megan has been having more fun than she ever could have imagined.  She shares how impressed she is by the work ethic of each of the Broadway performers as well as how much fun it is to be around such a comedic cast.  All in all, Megan provides us with a unique “peek” into the fascinating world of Broadway!
